1CECUBE3ATER'S OSHIKATSU HAVEN

Here is my personal braindump dedicated to my oshis! This is where I write about them, why I like them, what they mean to me... Basically a digital and wordy collection of love for my oshis! Each oshi has their own page for them as well as links to information, songs, wiki pages etc. And my own personal description and analysis of them.

WHAT IS OSHIKATSU?

Oshikatsu is a japanese practice of spending time, money and love to supporting an oshi, which is often an idol or game/anime character. The word 'Oshi' is a slang term meaning 'favourite' or 'idol' and the word 'Katsu' means 'activity'. It has said to have gained popularity during the 2020 pandemic, with the first mentions of Oshikatsu itself originating earlier, during 2016. Oshikatsu has strong ties to Japanese idol, Vtuber and Otaku culture with Oshikatsu being common and well-circulated within these fandoms. I participate in Oshikatsu because I love showing my passion for people/characters I idolise as an outlet for my feelings and as a display of passion and love. Read the Wikipedia page here.

OSHI CULTURE

Big things to do with Oshikatsu include:
  • Collecting merchandise
  • Going to themed events (Pop-up cafes, Conventions, Concerts etc.)
  • Drawing Fanart
  • Writing Fanfiction
  • Showing off your oshi (Ita bags, Cosplay etc.)
...And I'm sure there's a ton more! I don't have the money to afford merch right now which is why I decided to make a digital shrine! Digital shrines are a big part of Neocities culture and I've seen a lot of shrines, but not many related to Oshikatsu culture in itself.

SHRINES

Maruzensky

Maruzensky is a character who is extremely special to me, being from the franchise Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She stands out to me as a character through Cygames' interpretation of her real-life counterpart and how this is tied into her character story. Her personality is rather relaxed, her motive for running being just as simple as the fact that she likes to run. I find her want to be 'trendy and hip' particularly charming since she usually comes across as retro instead. See shrine

Moka

Moka is an idol from the group Phantom Siita produced and managed by Ado. Moka has a very versatile voice, able to transition from a powerful, elegant voice to a more soft voice. Her member color is blue, and I find that it stands out amongst the others especially due to the retro-horror theme of the group. I especially love her live performances and how she is able to project her emotions strongly through her singing as well as in her performances/music videos. See shrine

Kagamine Len

I'm sure you're most likely familiar with who Len is, but Kagamine Len is a Crypton Vocaloid and apart of the 'main 6' vocaloids. As a big fan of vocaloid in general, Len stood out to me through his unique voicebank as well as his physical design being reminiscent of bananas. I also love his fan portrayals; I love how there's no pressure to make fan content where he's 'in character' because of the fact he has no canon as that is one of my biggest demotivators. See shrine

GoodTimesWithScar & Grian

This is a conjoined shrine being dedicated to both GoodTimesWithScar and Grian. I put these two in the same shrine because they are both Minecraft youtubers/streamers featured in Hermitcraft and the 3rd Life Series. I've been inspired by Grian since Hermitcraft 6, aspiring to be known for Minecraft building like he is. I became a fan of Scar more recently when getting back into MCYT and seeing myself in him, as a disabled person who has a drive to achieve things. See shrine

Cats

This is a general shrine for my love of cats, featuring a few specific cats that I love including my own! I have been an avid cat person since before I could talk, my family members have told me about how deranged I was during primary school since all I'd ever talk about is cats. That love for cats hasn't gone away but the way I show it has; I don't correct 9 year old's misinformation on cats or have meltdowns when people prefer dogs. See shrine
